From an easy family ride to a full gravel weekend

The National Forest has a growing network of off-road trails, quiet lanes and woodland cycling. For Drakelow, Hicks Lodge and Rosliston are the obvious easy-access options, while the Coal and Canopy Way opens up a much bigger loop across the Forest.

Coal and Canopy Way

The Coal and Canopy Way is a 251 km National Forest cycling route created for gravel riding and bikepacking. It mixes forest tracks, bridleways, canal towpaths and quiet lanes, linking former coalfield landscapes with ancient woodland, new forest and wildlife habitat.
