Branston
Branston Water Park
Lake, wetland and an easy local nature walk
One of the closest straightforward outdoor options to Drakelow
Branston Water Park began as a gravel pit and is now a Local Nature Reserve with a large lake, woodland, wetland and wildflower habitat. Its flat setting and surfaced paths make it an accessible choice for an easy walk rather than a full hiking day.
The Trent and Mersey Canal runs alongside the area, and Branston Water Park also sits at the handover between two useful local sections of the National Forest Way. Stage 9 arrives from Rosliston and Stage 10 continues towards Rangemore.
